I know, it sucks. You start up a thread about your new fish and everyone jumps down your throat. The thing is, there are plenty of forums where you can post pics of your new stock and it doesn't matter what else you have or whether it's compatible, people will be all like "those fish r sick bro" and "cool fish! awesum" etc.
The people on this forum, compared to others I have seen, know more and care more...about the fish. They don't care as much about patting you on the back and making you feel good. They are not themselves teenagers (for the most part) and are not interested in pics of the pretty, shiny, new fish as much as they are more analytical of the aquarium itself.
Adding fish to an overstocked tank (I don't know if you are overstocked or not, because your stock list in your sig is not accurate...but if you have 4 angelfish PLUS the stunted discus in your tank, I would say you are) is not wise. If you've recently had disease issues, then it's not a good idea to add fish right away, especially unquarantined fish. Asking "is it ok to put a quarter sized discus in with a 3" one?" is no good if you've ALREADY done it. See what I mean?
I know you're young, and have limited resources...not just money, but space. I know your parents probably don't want you to have as many aquariums as you need, in order to keep all the species you would like to have. However you have to curb your enthusiasm a little, and take a step back and realize that there is
plenty of time to keep all the fish you want, if you stick around in this hobby. I have been doing this for 9 years, and I've kept all different configurations of fish. If I'd started right off with everything I wanted, I would not be in this hobby today because it wouldn't have worked, and I would have probably been discouraged.
It does seem like people are being hard on you (and yes, perhaps unnecessarily unkind...and unconstructive) but we are just concerned, really. You are obviously smart and capable - I mean hey! I don't think I've ever made $200 selling anything besides supplies. That's a lot of money to someone your age, but rather than spend it all at once (impatience) and get the fish you want and rush them through quarantine, or skip it altogether...do what is being recommended, and just take a deep breath and chill
Again, you have years ahead of you. There are people on this forum who started keeping fish even earlier than you did, and are still keeping them now at the age of 60+. So really...you have your whole life ahead of you to try all the different species, provided you don't shoot yourself in the foot by cramming everything you want into the space you have available and making a royal mess of it all.
