Got some Amano Shrimp. Now what?

It doesn't sound like there should be any problems to me, although penguin tetras do like to be in atleast groups of six. It's probably either an exoskeleton or the result of amanos often dying when introduced to new tanks. Cherry barbs should also be kept in larger groups.

ya the cherry barbs and penguins were a gift that my dad bought for my 4 year old cousin while she is here from out west. i am seriously thinking about bringing them back and getting 2 more guppies to keep my female company.

my ideal setup right now would be 3 guppies (1 male, 2 female), 3 platies (1 male, 2 females) and 3 amano shrimp. i bought the pet stores last 2 amanos though so i may have to wait.

Often times fish can adjust to a large range of pH, the most important thing about pH is that it stays constant in my opinion.

so at present i am down to 1 amano, and i have 2 ghost shrimp that are doing well.

is it normal for the amano to go missing for a couple days after molting (i saw it's "shell" in the rocks the other day)? cuz i can't that guy anywhere and i do check atleast once a day to make sure all my little friends are still there.

Shrimp in general are exceptional at hiding

thats the funny thing though, i can always find the ghost shrimp (that i didn't even see in the tank at the pet store) but my amano is very good at hiding. maybe its a case of ghost shrimp don't need to hide as much so the amano learns to hide better. hey whatever as long as it shows up again.
