Got the worst cold ever

i've had the cold for 9 days now and i feel crap, also had the chest infection too.dosed myself up to the eyeballs, drank whisky to knock me out but lo and behold its still here *sigh*

This may sound disgusting to some, but mix vinegar and water 50/50 and drink it up.

Not disgusting to me. My fix for sore throats is gargling hot sauce... sriracha (sp? sometimes called 'rooster sauce' due to the logo) works wonders. Eliminates all sore throat symptoms, and any other feeling in your throat/mouth, for hours.

Gargle with warm salt water (it helps draw out fluid, reducing the swelling), make some chicken noodle soup and add a whole bunch of garlic and cayenne pepper pepper to it, or you could try my dad's fix...hot lemonade with honey and cayenne in it :P (sounds gross but it does help a sore throat). The cayenne helps you sweat it out without having to actually go running or something strenuous like that. Go out for sushi, get some miso soup (just because it's tasty) and eat some straight wasabi...your sinuses will be clear instantly. Drink lots of water. Being properly hydrated helps your body (immune system included) function better. And see a doctor soon.

I thought strep on didn't have side effects like stuffy nose and cough?

There are lots of dangerous side affects of untreated strep throat. Look them up on the internet.

I dont have much cartiledge left in my knee due to the rhematic fever. The untreated strep throat caused the soft tissue to attack the cartiledge in my knees. I was lucky, it stopped there. My older brother has heart damage from his untreated strep throat.

Strep throat is nothing to ignore.

Ok I asked my wife(third year med student) and she said that you should see a doctor instead of asking on the internet lol. She also said that any sickness that by the fourth day you dont feel any better even a tiny bit you should be seeing a doctor as soon as possible for proper treatment.

Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner! Please do not seek medical advice here... much of what has already been posted is extremely poor information. Only a full history and proper clinical examination will reveal diagnosis and determine appropriate treatment (if warranted). The length of your illness is indeed of concern and you certainly would be well served by a thorough evaluation :)

thanks everyone for you insight:) I wasn't asking for opinions but wondered if anyone else had had something this bad.I think the sore throat is finally going away as its not as bad as yesterday.Though earlier today i was making some soup and boiling hot water got on my hand so when i say "i thought the sore throat hurt i couldn't be more wrong".To top it all off the soup fell in the sink -_-
