Goth Tank - Ideas?

Here's a mediocre pic on my 10g showing the saber tooth tiger skull.

The background is a piece of wrapping paper. Not exactly goth:-)

If your going with a gothic tank you can get leds in alot of colors now. I would suggest a dark red or a green. Get the kind that are low angle display so they only highlight a small area of your tank and give it that shadowy effect.

I suggest balck mollies. A completley black fish with a near black environment and all the sudden it swims through a patch that colors it green. That would look amazing. I would also go with red plants. Dark bracnchy driftwood.

If you want a castle find a pic that has one and a graveyard in it. I would look for large posters on the internet. Use that as your background and put some gravestones in front of the graveyard. Those old square pillar gothic ones not the steryotypical rounded top ones.

Wow, these are some awesome ideas! I'm definitely going to use the moonlight and a red LED or two, maybe even a low power green for around the 'forest' area. I've also toyed around the idea of a IL moon as part of the background and found one that's pretty nifty. Later today I'll be drawing up some rudimentary plans and the design layout for the tank. I'll post the layout when I do. =) Thank you all again and keep the ideas coming!

Hey if you like the look of those 3/4 black guppys I have a LOT of fry I could send your way.

You can create some neat effects with LEDs:

I'm thinking a darker brown gravel, not necessarily black with that twisted drift wood making it seem like they are coming from the top.... twisted into crevices and caves..... a smaller skull or two of animals, not people so it's more of a realiztic feel to it.

I agree with the dark brown (I do want a somewhat natural look) substrate and I like the idea of slate for the graves (I'm handy with a dremel) too. I love all these ideas and Shin0r's LED spotlights are uber spooky. Love it! I also agree with the animal skull idea like Learn2turns. I'll have to keep it a bit smaller than that or just make the graves a little larger. Sweet, sweet stuff! I particularly like seeing some of the 'spooky' tanks in picture form. Great stuff!

Use this as your aquarium background.
