There was a professional fish/tanker/aquarium keeper/breeder person. He had tons of equipment for very good prices. He also had some cool out of the ordinary fish for sale. There was another guy selling - get this - complete 10g set ups, including the wrought iron stand for $35.
Then there was another guy selling a large variety of aquarium plants - I am not much of a plant person, but there seemed to be a good selection for VERY low prices.
Not many people showed up to buy so I left a couple of hours early. However, if you are in the area you should definately check out these swaps. They are open to the public. There is also a big swap meet put on by the Chicago folks... but used stuff doesn't sell as well there so new stuff is emphasized.
If you live in a large metropolitan area, check with your better lfs's and see if there are any aquarium societies/clubs to join in your area. They are fun!

P.S. Boy, it took me 3 hours this morning to bag the fish. Then all the unsold ones come home and have to get reacclimated, etc. It is MUCH easier to sell bunches to the lfs's. I'm still spending more than I make, but have been told that eventually this does turn around. If you want to breed fish to make money - dream on! But, if you enjoy doing daily water changes and watching little fishes grow up to start sparring with each other and getting all fiesty, then by all means start to breed them. I just love a tank full of the rams all flaring and struttin their stuff...

glad to hear that you made out, SO more breeding room or a totally new set up?? Choices choices... 
The new tank will be for growing out that new ram color I have. I pulled all the males and a few of the females and stuffed them in a 10. I'll need to set up the new tank very soon!
I'm actually doing things a little different in my grow out tanks. I don't like unattractive tanks and also I noticed that young fish kind of freak out when they have been used to a bare bottomed tank and then suddenly get put into gravel. Plus, they often get a little stressed when they are suddenly put into a tank with strange fish...
To make a long story short, my grow out tanks are fairly simple display tanks with a couple of other types of fish in them, only I have about 1/4 inch gravel. They are usually stuffed with driftwood and java fern with floating hornwort or guppy grass. (Najas). I figure I'm getting them a little better used to the fish store tanks.
As to the lfs's getting overstocked. I have that problem with the Bolivians. However on Saturday I called a store over in Madision and they want 60, so whew, I can breath again. (I won't be pulling a Bolivian spawn again, well over 200 fry!) Plus they are now rearing their own fry to some extent. Just as a side note, they are long lived fish. I know a guy who has some that are 7 years old now...

Just keep a couple to the side for me please? It looks like the tank won't be too far off cycling so I'll be paying a visit within 3 weeks I think.

We moved here to Wisconsin about 2 years ago from Queensland Australia. It will be quite obvious when I come to get the fish.
