greech's Simple 40 Breeder

Thanks for the compliments! Camera is an iphone for most pics but the last round was a cannon slr type camera with a standard lens. I borrowed it from a co-worker. $500+ for a camera is a bit too steep for me especially when I think about all the corals I could get with that much $$$ :).

Some new corals, new growth and moved something things around. Finally got to the point where my corals were demanding more than a water change provides so I am now dosing (manually). Trying to not do too much and get a stand, lighting and sump for the 120. Figures that my return pump went out so I had to dump money on that. Wasn't bad because I just went ahead and upgraded for the 120. Also had an eye doctor appointment the other day and it turns out I'm old and blind. Insurance covered a good bit but still had to fork out $300+ for my share of the glasses. I wasn't happy about the out of pocket but I was even more upset about how much the insurance was charged. No wonder no one can afford insurance! Such a racket!!!!

Time is not on my side either. Legislative session is in full swing and I don't see me getting out from under that rock until late April or May.

The 40 breeder is doing really well though. I broke the cardinal rule and bought a tang (peeks out window to check for the tang po po :)) Its a tiny tomini tang and it has a long way to go before it outgrows the breeder and will be perfect for the 120. The tang is very cool and actually sleeps with my clowns. I swear my female is like a big grandma that will take in just about anyone :).

I'll get some pics up this weekend. I soooo look forward to Saturdays these days!

Looking forward to the pics.

I know what you mean about getting old and eye sight... lol. I had to get progressive lenses because of my old eye sight. Insurance paid some... still cost me $400... then I lost them at Disneyland two weeks ago when I took my grandson there... lol.

Can't wait for your 120 build... gonna be great! I want to to get a bigger tank but not sure about having to up size the equipment. I'm thinking about just adding another 40 gallon breeder inline with my sump to get more water volume and to take some of the live rock out of the display tank... maybe get a big chunk of live rock for that island look.

PM me the details BoCoMo.

Took some pics. Just need to upload them.

Here are some pics. Nothing too exciting. Can't remember what I had when I posted the last pics. Cut some things not too long ago and traded the larger pieces away.

The favia on the bottom has been doing something weird for the past 6 months or so. It developed a water bubble under some of the polyps and that area has drooped down. It's almost as if it is trying to split off a clone. Seems to have no affect on the health of the coral. We'll see what happens I guess.

Relatively new halloween urchin. Pretty cool critter. I can actually hand feed this thing sheets of algae which I could never do with the tuxedo urchin. Unfortunately I lost that one after 2+ years. Still have his shell though which is very pretty without the spines.
