greech's Simple 40 Breeder

Several new additions but only have a couple of pics...

New lobo. Picture doesn't show it but its a light purple with yellow splotches and a blue/green mouth. I'll try and better pic.

And I got a little risky with a new fish and pulled the trigger on a leopard wrasse. My LFS held her for almost 3 weeks and she ate well on several trips in to check on her. So far so good. She didn't eat the first two days but was out hunting all day from day one. She has eaten pretty darn good the last week/week and a half. Loves PE mysis which is surprising due to the food size and how small their mouths are.

She is kind of camouflaged but she is front and center along the glass :). A newish yellow, green and pale blue trachy is behind her...

Have added a few other things but my camera makes it hard to even see them...

In the upper center right there are some new milli frags. One is a watermelon which is very pink and a halloween milli to the right (probably can't see that one at all :(). There is also a Garf Bonsai frag sticking out (you can kind of see the new superglue around the plug/rock :)).

Have a few other new frags I will snap a pic of next time I am around and the lights are all on. Just about ready to upgrade my LED strip from the Panorama to a 24" or 36" Rapid LED DIY. The 3W royal blues should make a significant difference (crossing my fingers it won't be too much light :)).

Tank looks awesome as always. Have you looked into uv LEDs? Or maybe adding some whites too?

And when are you upgrading tanks? ;)

Ditto on the when are you upgrading?

Look forward to a build thread from you.

Geez guys, like quit with the peer preasure :)

Upgrade is probably a little ways down the road. I keep hoping for one of those free 180's that everyone else seems to land :). I would guess within the year I will be in some new digs but no hurry for me as I love my tank.

As for the UV/white LEDs. I think I have mentioned this before but aside from the incredible pop that royal blue's provide, I just can't bring myself to like the look of "full spectrum" LEDs. Unless things change by the time I buy a completely new light, I am planning on a 6 bulb ATI fixture with LED supplements. I realize my pics look awfully blue and dark but that's more a result of the iphone camera. The tank (and corals) are much brighter in person.

Just got a response email from Rapid and it looks like it will be 3 to 4 weeks before they have what I want in stock. Anyone know of any other vendors for DIY LED? Actually, all I need is a 1"x24" black anodized heatsink (don't want silver since I don't have a canopy). Rapid has everything else I need.

Thanks guys!

Minor updates...

Added some higher power LEDs and took off the Panorama module. The Panorama worked ok to add some 'pop' before and after the T5s came on but not much else. The kit I ordered from reefledlights.com includes 12x3W Cree XT-E (all royal blue). I opted for the solderless kit and it worked out great! Very easy and quick to put together and the components all seem to be of high quality. Best of all the bulbs are BRIGHT! My Panorama would light the entire tank (impressive for such a small strip) but they are very dim compared to the new bulbs.

Fish wise. I lost my ornate leopard wrasse. The fish was quiet heathy and ate very well, maybe too well. I had to levae the house for a few hours one day after feeding and when I came home, the wrasse was dead. It ate a lot of PE mysis that day and I am fairly certain the fish actually choked :(.

The LFS has had a larger black leopard for about a month. Eating well and always out in the open so I decided to give it another try. Sorry for the crappy pics. New monti setosa frag to the left of (and behind) the firefish as well.

I should probably know this but how do you embed videos :)?

Usually not a big fan of zoas but these were nice and reasonably priced with a green and red monti hitchhiker to boot :)! Supposedly these are goblin fires. Pic does them absolutely no justice. One of the brightest orange corals I have seen.

Couple other pics just because I liked them...

Believe it or not, there is actually a Aquablue Special (10-12K bulb) on in these pics but I couldn't for the life of me, get the pics to come out any less blue :).

Long time no update. Things are going good with tank. Everyone seems pretty happy these days. Borrowed a co-workes fancy camera. I had no idea how to use it but got some ok shots. Pics taken under different kinds of lighting.
