Grins' 55g Reef

Someone wanted to see the inside of the canopy, I think for how we installed the fans? Anyways, here is the skeleton:

The actinics aren't up and the mesh isn't installed on the back or the top. The sides have interior panels...same thing that is used in shower stalls. The computer fans are hard wired and pointed to blow across the top of the water surface.

Oh and meet Scampi my new Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp. I was really nervous about getting him. Before joining my club I had bought a shrimp from a place I no longer shop at. The shrimp died within the first 30 minutes. We were given a partial credit towards a replacement and last week we tried another from the same place. It died within an hour. Came to find out they fibbed about when they had gotten both in (the same day). I figured it might be a problem with the source since their store is not known for being clean.

So went to one of my trusted sources and this shrimp took to the rock right away and is trying to seduce the tang into allowing him to clean it. Lesson learned...if stock keeps dying and everything you're doing seems right...consider the source or their source.

They are estatically happy. The tang is weaving in and out of rocks. The goby has claimed not just his old rock back but the entire bottom of the tank. Greedy thing that he is. The shrimp and tang are flirting with one another but as soon as they touch it seems to startle them both.

Very nice log! Ive enjoyed reading it, and you have a very nice start.

Congrats to all the Fishy Escapees.... And to Grins for not having to maintain the QT tank for a while (unless she goes nuts shopping.. ) LOL..

Congrats, glad to see you have happy friends again. (BTW my Tang is looking a lot better, but I can hardly get her out from behind the friggin rocks..)

My son tonight was saying how much fun the goby and tang are having and how they seem even more like buddies than before they went to the hospital tank.

Me: "Well yeah, they are prison bunkmates. They bonded in their shared trauma"

And as for the QT tank...well, it won't be empty for long I'm thinking. I'm merely debating what to spend money on next. =)

Your tang is hiding? I'm really suprised. Mine weaves in an out and is frequently out front. Although, it is very perplexed by the shrimp flirting with it. This is the same tang that is scared of lettuce. A live shrimp is probably going to give the poor fish nightmares.
