Grins' 55g Reef

Yep, and they are just bleached looking. Grrrr. Max once told me that the big parent could be deep inside a rock and you'd never see it.

I can believe that as these puppies were bleached.. The heads on them were the size of a half dollar and they were surrounded several babies each.

I took the rock out of my main tank drained some water put a light and pump in a bucket until they all came out again.. Made small cup of kalkwasser paste and just started zapping. I then made up a new batch of water and put the rock in there with a light etc and waited several hours until I was sure they were dead..

Between this rock and what happened in the sump last week I'm thinking I'm gonna need an army of peppermints.. sigh..

Maybe I missed it, but did you keep the original substrate from the "complete setup" or did you change it out? Just curious about what it is, if you know.

I find myself wanting something a bit more coarse in an effort to slowly get rid of my DSB. Tired of constantly battling dust storms, and I don't like that I lose about 4-6 inches of tank height.

Oh, and cool thread btw. Interesting read.

Yes, I didn't know any better at the time and kept it thinking it was the right thing to do. We gave it a major rinsing and sifted through it to clean it but in retrospect I'd not recommend it. Luckily it hasn't caused a problem (that I know of).

Oh almost forgot, went up to my favorite coral store to get more solution tonight and picked up 2 new skunk cleaners to replace poor little Scampi that was zapped in the great Hydor ShortOut of 2007.

Meet Terrance and Phillip, they were not in a mood to pose after needing 2 hours to acclimate so pardon the crappy shot.

Very cool Grins.. You want my CBS since your having a shrimp fest :) J/K.. I love my CBS but he doesn't get to go back into the display for a while.

Butters is a wuss. He was terrified of the last skunk cleaner and poor Scampi would try to seduce him with his feelers. Butters finally FINALLY allowed Scampi to clean him and loved it the very first time.

Funny thing is though that Scampi then decided that karma was a ______ and never would clean Butters again. He'd clean the goby, he'd clean us, but not the tang. The tang was ticked off about it too, he'd chase my son away from the shrimp all the time.

So tonight when the new shrimp hit the tank Butters immediately swam over to them nudging them and rubbing up against their feelers as if his shrimp was not only back but had duplicated into two.

Man I want my tang back.. But I love my Lyretail more..

As far as my feathers and my bali go.. Think along the lines of CPD.. NOT going to happen.. But if I ever get your snail mail address you might end up with an xmas or some other day present in the mail.. Who knows maybe when my reef gets to the point of fragging we could sent you some samples.. :)

Eh I hear you on the fragging issue. The only things I have large enough to frag really are some of the zoas and the mushrooms. The mushrooms are fairly common so not worth it and the zoas...well I'd not send them to anyone until I'm certain I've gotten rid of every last nudi and egg. I think I might be getting close (knock on wood). They are all looking great the past 2 weeks.
