Grins' 55g Reef

Don't make me start talking shoes to counterbalance the StarWars chat. I might be a reef geek but I'm not a geek geek.

On the tank side...I'm updating on the blog these days although this week is very busy with another event and I'm not having nearly as much time with the tank as I'd like.

Sure sure, you're not a geek geek but a reef geek is a nice title for you.;) Helpful lady as well.:bowing:

I'm looking forward to more of your blogs, Grins.:) Always a pleasure to spend time reading through them.:)

Not that I have done a sophisticated spectral analysis on them or anything like that, but I cant tell you the MH bulbs I bought on EBAY for a whopping $15.00 each have done wonders for my tank, everything has started growing faster and looking generally more healthy since I converted back in August.

Now, will these things last a year, who knows, but if they last 6 months even, at $15.00 a pop it is still cheaper than the commercial aquarium products that are selling at $60.00 and up. I do not have SPS, I mostly deal in LPS and softies, my frogspawn is splitting off branches like it is going out of style or something.

Anyways, that is my two cents worth. Until they are proved otherwise, I dont mind changing these babies out every six months and pocketing the $30 or $40 dollars and using it toward a nice ric or something!

The 20k I bought on ebay for $13 was MUCH whiter than the 14k Hamilton I have on my tank now. I'm not saying it was a bad bulb, but it certainly wasn't the color I'd expect.
