The parents usually do a good job at that if the babies don't have anywhere to hide. The babies are pretty slick.
 
some angelfish might be fine, but others will harass the adults or even kill them, it all depends on the individual in that case

have you considered netting the young and selling them for store credit?
 
Bumblebee catfish/dwarf south american bumblebee catfish may be a good option. They tend to not bother larger fish but will gladly eat extra babies.
 
A single angelfish will do the job, at least mine does.
my angel ate all of my swordtails babies :D i saw a few babies sometimes but after a while .. there s no baby anymore :D
 
It's actually a friends tank. She's upgrading them from a 5g to a 20g and wanted some ideas for adding another fish that will help the population. I think those cats sound good because so far the babies always seem to hide at the bottom of the tank. Thanks for all the ideas!!
