guppy population control

An Apisto would do the job and are great fish.

I net out all the extras and split them between 2 Oscar tanks. End of over population. Some I take to the LFS to keep a good business with them. I get discounts on all purchases as a result.

i use a few red eye tetras. they only will eat the babies. they are slow fish and relatively inexpensive ( about a dollar and change each). i originally bought them because they look really stunning to me, then they helped control my platy populations. they never even look at the adults and aare usually timid and hide. angelfish get too big for a 20 gallon and eventually become big enough to take on adult guppies. catfish will eat whatever will fit in their mouths. look at different mid sized tetras and rasboras since they normally eat baby fish and other aquatic fast moving prey.

Serpae tetras also tend be be nippy and would probably go after the male guppies

LOL...This is why I have snubbed livebearers for quite a long time already. They reproduce very quickly or at least faster than you can think of means to get rid of the fry. I still have guppies in my pond but the fry make rather tasty meal for all my fish including the severums and angels.:naughty:
