guppy population control

I put a few from a friend's tank in with my rainbows...one was eaten right away, 3 lived a couple more days (hiding in the plants), and for the past couple days I've only seen one lonely guy hiding out in the base of my amazon word. We'll see if he makes it....or if either of the others survived.

I bought my German Blue Rams for just this reason... I think that my pair of rams only get 1-2 babies out of each clutch. Definitely don't see them ever doing any damage to the adults. although they do chase them a bit.

I'd have to say that the best thing to do would be to net some of them out & either sell them for store credit or offer them as feder fish to another tank where the denizens would eat them, (as bad as that might sound).

I have that exact problem now in my son's guppy tank & my main problem is always if I don't sell them some way, some of the fry are sooo beautiful that I hate to cull them.

She decided to add some ghost shrimp and a couple bumblebee gobies and turned the tank lightly brackish. We'll see how the BBGs work out. I'm thinking with the aggression they're prone to, they should keep the babies in check. On the flip side, they seem to be pretty slow to the draw so far. So...we shall see.
