Hair Algae!

Hello!!

for the past few months, I’ve been having lots of trouble with hair algae growing all over my tank. It mostly grows on my plants, however does grow on my dragon stone as well. It grows really quick, the algae in the picture below is what grew back after I manually removed it yesterday. Is there any way to get rid of this? I use seachem flourish and sea hem flourish excel, and have some Amani shrimp and nerite snails for cleaners. I usually try to keep the light on for 6-7 hours a day, but sometimes it goes to 8 or sometimes 9.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

There is lots of information on the internet. But I find my Amano Shrimp do the best job on hair algae. Good luck.

Algae is caused by an imbalance of nutrients, light and co2. Algae thrives on excesses of these things in relation to your plant load and then to each other.

I would try cullting back on the flourish dose and also keep the light on a steady rate. I tend to run my planted tanks with about 19 hours of ligt. In a couple I actually turn off the light for 3.5 hours mid-day. and run it for a total of close to 10.

Make sure the tank doesn't get sunlight to any extent. Ambient light is OK, but direct sunlight can be a problem re algae.

Get a timer for your light! (they're cheap, under $10). 6 or 9 hours is a HUGE difference! I go for ~7 hours.

What ferts are you using & how often? Lighting?
