Well thanks a bunch..... I dont mean to sound poor but ya know. Thx I shall repay the favor once I get my tank up and running I shall message you when my tanks up. I wuz afraid you guys were gona yell at me like " go get a job" or something like I would of heard on other sites. The people at aquacentral are good people.

Hey hopefully people will help u out but I have to tell u, if u want to be in this hobby, u should be warned that this is a money sucker.

Regardless of how u put it, your gonna need a good chunck of money for this hobby. I started when I was 13 and like u, my parents made me pay for my own stuff. They haven't bought be anything since I was 12.

It was hard, even harder that back then there were no forums or nice people that would help me out. So my advice for u is to get a job. Sorry but its the cold hard truth. Otherwise u'll be like me and waste alot of money trying to do it cheaply and in the end regerting how it looks and all the fishes and plants I sent to heaven.

However, I will tell u this, if u are smart and after the inital cost of setting up the tank, u can at least sell ur extra so u can improve ur tanks. So if anything save up ur money so u can at least start good so u can have some good results with little fustration.

Oh and make sure u do ur research in every possible way so u can avoid killing as many living things as possible.

Thank you martialtheory your words of wisdom sound like they come from my dad only yours are nice, lol hahahaha but ok I will try, you'd be supprised how hard it is for a 14 year old to get a job!

Well put.

I think I had my first tank (5 gal) when I was about 10. I bought it at a yard sale for a couple bucks. I stocked it with fish (minnows and baby bass) I caught with a drag net at a nearby pond.

A few years later, in my early teens, when i made the switch two a tropical freshwter tank I made money buy mowing neighbors lawns. A couple of those lawns were huge and I oonly made about $10 per lawn, but it supported my hobby.

If you have a passion for this stuff, you'll find a way. Then you can chase that dream tank like I have been chasing for 30 years.

Best, Keith
