btw, is there any expired or unused leftover antibiotics at home (although such shouldve been disposed of)?
Although it is true that most of s/w pathogens will not transmit to f/w, I would not trust that as primary source of their diet. I would prefer to stick to f/w fish as main diet where SH will benefit from proper nutrients and vice versa.
Besides, I dont know of any s/w which are considered feeders unless you can catch your own in quantity.
Breeding/Raising feeders at home is not easy task unless one has large ponds in the back yard.
If and when possible, you may try to keep feeder in tank designated as feeder tank in immaculate condition where I used to flush the system with constant running cold water 24/7/365. It took me while to house 500/1000 feeders in 33/55G for long time w/o developing diseases and w/o constant flushing. If feeders came with invisible symptoms/problems, I will take care of it before using. Sometimes, I did euthanize whole batches of feeders if I felt it was too risky or uncurable. Such batches will get processed into homemade frozen s/w fish food.
I believe there was program on Animal Planet couple of weeks ago called " River Monster" on the topic of SH. I just wish there were more scenes of SH in their natural habitat which I wouldve stay up all night to watch if i had to.
Has anyone watched/watches this program?
Anyway, Hope it isnt anything serious!!
