Help !!!fish burnt by water heater!

I already said use Stress Coat and over using antibiotics (like for prevention in burns) isn't a good idea.

Some suggestions here are going overboard.

1. Stresscoat containing aloe vera - Not necessary. While it certainly promotes production of slime coat, excessive amounts can get trapped into the gills and suffocate the fish.

2. Antibiotics - What for? There is no infection involved yet. Using antibiotics as prophylactic is inadvisable. You risk creating resistant strains of bacteria in the process. Not needed here.

All you needed are water changes. If possible, add a teaspoon per gallon salt. It will help enough to keep bacteria from latching on the wounds. With or without salt, the bottom line is you need to ensure the injury heals as quickly as possible before infections begin to creep.

Like you said, it's not necessary but small amounts can be beneficial with burns. Especially with pain management.

The silver dollar has healed, my aunt did use stress coat in small amounts. And it was a burn from the heater because she saw when it got stuck between the glass and the heater. I do want to thank everyone for the advice.
