HELP! I'm addicted

wow you guys got it bad lol :sim: i don't, well not as badly as i had it before the summer. now i'm missing that boy-dog relationship, and i'm going to be pursuing that path (wanting a shiba inu, google it), but even still i can't seem to shake this desire for more tanks! i think bettas are gonna start me back again...and i have more resources to use to get the items i need to make it worse!

Maybe I should take up the hobby of having kids. I don't know, Geez that freaks me out. I like the ones that swim around in a controllable dimension. I don't hear the scream or break stuff.

Do plenty of research first. It's not that they're really that hard to keep, but they do require a lot of attention and accessories. They can be quite expensive, actually.

They grow fast, and in fact will outgrow everything - especially clothes and shoes.

A cave or similar hiding place should be provided for a place to sleep and relax.

They tend to be social, and this behavior seems to peak during adolescence. This behavior is rarely actually seen though, as it usually takes place in the cave. The behavior is evidenced, however, by the fact that you can never find the phone.

Mating/pairing habits vary, but especially with males, this frequently involves pleas to let them "borrow the car". It can be a very trying time for the adults.

They must be fed a varied diet, and unlike most fish that you can skip a day of feeding, this is not recommended with kids. It makes them very cranky, and they can become destructive to their environment. Oh yeah, and one feeding a day won't quite do it either. Most experts agree that they should be fed three times a day. As they approach adulthood, the males in particular, will often develop ravenous appetites.

Once they have pair bonded, it is usually long term - often for life. This is desirable, as the breaking up a a pair later in life is quite stressful.

Overall, they can be very rewarding. Patience is the key.

Well... This is one hobby that is expensive to get going, fairly cheap on an ongoing basis though.

It's far cheaper than drinking, and other such activities.... Like I tell my wife, I don't hang out at bars, I don't frequent strip clubs, she knows where I am.....It's a good hobby... the problem is having too many hobbies.

At least this one (like woodworking-my other hobby), has an endless amount you can learn and experience and I might add that you can share. I've never gotten to a point in this hobby or woodwork where I didn't dream about the next tank, a new filter, fish or even new tools, etc.....

I recently got back into the hobby. I can't tell you how happy I am that my wife is also all for it, and excited about our new tank, and picking out fish. I might have to get her her own tank.

I just need more time for my hobbies.

If I had it to do all over again I would have went from my 2 gallon plastic tank straight to my 120. lol I would have saved a TON of money!

All of you guys crack me up. Well thanks for the advice. WackyDan, I have the same problem. Too many hobbies not enough time or money. I guess I'll suffer through my various symptoms and keep wandering about the different LFS's.
