Help me setup my First SW tank!

Catpicklesdog, I am not using straight tap water, I am filtering it through this http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=AP4111

it deionizes the water and removes impurities, it's a poorboys excuse for RO. it probably doesn't work as well as an RO unit(although they claim it does) but for the money, it'll do to get me started in on the SW side of this hobby.

I'll do a few before and after tests to see how well it's working. and then I'll share that info with you all.

My mistake.:dance2: Never seen one of them so couldn't comment. I just know my tap water filter was pants!!

well, here is my setup as of now. I bought the liverock yesterday, it came straight out of the LFS corals display tank.

I am quite happy to have found numerous living things on the rock, a clam, and a small piece of what appears to be a soft corral.

thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind when I use up my current bag!

i dont think you should have gotten the skimmer, probably a load of crap, would have been better off with an AquaC, 30 dollar skimmers of any kind are pretty much useless.

Why does everyone think you need an RO unit or DI unit, you can just got to your lfs or something and buy RO water at 40-60 cents a gallon, your changing around 3 gallons a week so that only 1.20-1.80 dollars

Other than that you seem to be getting off at a good start
