Help Me Stock My 20 Gallon

Wow! He is beautiful!

Just a thought to elaborate on the tankmates: The Boesemani Rainbows would bring out the blue and the Platys would bring out the red, and then, of course, you have your Ottos which would be your clean up crew. All three of them are schooling fish that would bring some great color and variety to your tank, as well as entertainment! :)

Here is my Betta. You can see a couple of my Painted Platys in a few of the pictures.

What about rainbow fish......I think the boesemani rainbows stay small enough for a 20 and they can be very colorful ! I saw some at PetCo today and if I had a tank for them I would have bought them on the spot !
Hold the phone a sec. . . Boesemanis are schooling fish and will grow larger than 3".

Please read this: http://fish.mongabay.com/melanotaeniinae.htm
Scroll down the page to the Boesemani -- males to 4.3 inches. I've seen some in tanks at 3.5".

Pretty well all the fish in the Melanotaenina sub-family grow 3.5+ inches.

You can't put 6 of those in a 20g and I can't imagine having even 3 of them in there. I have 5 in a 36g and they need more space to swim. Which they are getting in two weeks.

Eventually they'll be in a 90g tank.

There are other rainbows avail that are smaller than Boesemanis. LiveAquaria needs to research that a little further.

I have a 35gallon tall tank. and I have a betta in mine, he seems really well mannered and if youre looking for color. definately go with guppies! they come in many colors and my betta does great with them. most people say the guppies big fins confuse the betta and make it think it is anothe betta. but it really depends on the betta you get. All are different.
