Help me with a center piece fish.

Ok, I finally got my 29 gallon tank set up. I will not be expanding for a while but i want some ideas to start researching....

The tank already has 2 cories and 3 otos and one fairly large snail. These are the original inhabitants of the tank from when i bought it. (i got rid of the cardinals that were also with them) anyways....

I want to add more corys, maybe bring the count up to 6, add i nice school of harlequin rasboras, maybe like 8. I also want a center piece fish. I was thinking an angel, but i don't think i want to deal with the teritorial aspect of the fish. Does anyone have an other ideas??

NOT ANGELS they get way too big for your tank, i would focus more on corys and maybe a male betta bettas make great additions to anyones tank unless its not a community
 
I'm not a big fan of bettas in a community tank. I do have a betta and he is the most aggressive thing ever i could never imagine putting him in a community.

A single gourmi would work well. Angels are not too territorial really. A 29 is sort of on the cusp of acceptable. A pretty Moonlight gourami would be an excellent "show" fish in that tank.
 
how big does the moon light gourami become?? and would it be alright in a tank with a steady current (its not that strong, but it is present)?
 
They average around 4 inches but it could get to six inches. Not the largest gourami, not the smallest. It would do just fine in a tank with some current. They are pretty peaceful, but I would still stick to one fish.
 
Thanks, they are really beautiful. But 1 more question....how common are they at a local fish store, and how much do they run (ball park estimate?)?
 
Got a moonlight gourami as the center piece fish in my 23gal. it looks great there and its freindly with the other fish. I 'm really happy with him. He cost £4 in london so not too much for a fish of it's size.
 
I also vote for the Gourami idea. There are several different types, just look some up on Google and see what you like. Stick with something that will be max 4-5 inches and has a peaceful demeanor. I like Blue Gouramis as they seem to be very friendly towards me and are very active.
 
Without giving it too much thought, I agree that a gourami would be a good choice for a tank that size and those inhabitants. I have a female Opaline Gourami. I've had her since she was a baby at like 1 1/2- 2inches. Shes now a beautiful 4 inches and has been with me through a lot. Good recommendation.
