Help, my hamster escaped!

We use to have 4 hamsters (one was a black bear like your!), our dwarf use to get out ALOT!!! One time she was gone for about a week, had given up on her...we had 2 cats too. Then one night I was watching CSI and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement...it was her, well after about a hour of chasing her (under couch, love seat, entertainment center & trying to keep the cats away (put them in the bathroom )finally I got her...covered in cobwebs hair a mess she looked like she ran threw a haunted house during a tornado!!! Anyway my point is sometimes it takes time but they do show up!

Good luck,

Gin

I have had SOOOOO many hamsters over the years. They have all escaped, multiple times. They have gotten into everything. I found one living in the hose of an old vacuum cleaner in the basement. I also had 2 get out and they also went into the basement and got inside the walls. We got them back. My last hamster was living in one of those SAM cages (they look cool but really are a piece of crap). He learned how to get out. He escaped on me about once or twice a week. Kept finding him in the same room he escaped in (because I kept towels stuffed under the doors whenever I realized he was missing). Except the last time I didn't bother with the towels, he went downstairs and my dog killed him and left him at the bottom of the steps for me that morning. That was the only casualty I ever had after at least 20-30 escapes. STUFF TOWELS UNDER THE DOORS!!!

The bucket trick worked for me numerous times. I always laid a piece of paper over the top of the bucket so they would think they could walk on it & put some peanut butter in the middle. Just make them a little staircase & they just crash right through.

Don't lose hope, just keep looking, keep towels under the doors, and set up traps in several places. Don't leave ANY food/water out for him that isn't for a trap. Be quiet and listen in the evenings/nights. You will find him if you try to think like a hamster.

HAHA!!!! Saw him fall right in to the bucket trap at 3am this morning!!!! Little bugger was so hungry he wasn't evenn trying to get out, just attacked the apple with pb and was shoving copious amounts in to his pouches lol! Well he's safe and sound in his cage now, thanks to all you guys for your suggestions and support!! So glad to have Mickey back!! :D

Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!
