Help- Water flowing onto hood after startup

Actually, before doing any cutting, try leveling the filter. From the pic, it looks like it is tipped backwards significantly, and it should sit level. There's a tab on the bottom front (near the tank) that you swing around to find the best fit to keep it level. This will drop the out flow area enough that it should be below the glass.

I didn't even see that - I know jdellman said that he tried to level it, so I didn't even think to look. Good thing you're more observant, OG!
Jdellman - can you place something between the plastic levelling piece and the tank (if the plastic's been cut too short) to try and bring the top of the filter level? That just might fix the problem.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I find it amazing that Orion Girl picked up on the "out of level" from the photo, and I could not see it under my nose, even while looking for it. (I don't know why, but I was looking for side to side level). Orion Girl was right, it was out of level, and by over- adjusting it, it no longer flows onto the top (but just barely). I think I am going to cut away at the lip on the bottom of the filter to let the water drop straight down as well.

Again, thanks for all the replies.
