Help With BigAls Order

Eco-complete is for plants...I thought it was better than fluorite.. Not sure though. I like the color since its black.

Eco Complete has nutrients within the substance, while Flourite is inert and does not. Eco Complete has been known to cause water hardness to raise for the first few months, however, it wasn't much of a problem for me (I have 50% Eco-Complete 50% gravel). Some people like eco-complete for the looks and the added nutrients with planted tanks, and others like Flourite because they like to know EXACTLY what nutrients are in their tanks or they're just more comfortable with something that's completly inert.

I personally like the black color of Eco-Complete.

I like the way Eco-complete looks, must look even better in a nicely planted tank. Around here in my lfs they sell it for $26.99 plus tax per bag.
I found the deal that they are in big als $14.99 per bag plus $7.49 for shipping I decided to go with that.

So I ordered 4 bags, paid a lot for shipping but am still satisfied, at least I didn't have to pay more at my local fish store.

I dunno if you
hurricanejedi
still want to buy it, but if I were you I would, or you can just put some black gravel on top of Eco-complete that you alreayd have. ;)

Hehe yah I think I'm back with Eco-complete. It just looks so nice...

yes it does, I got 4 bags sitting on the floor here.

I think it's definitely its color that makes it stand out.

I've ordered Fluoritre from big als. I compared priced at several LFS's and Big Als came out ahead, even with the hit for heavy shipping.
One thing I liked, and it wasn't expensive, was a little plastic box i hang off the side of my tank. I keep a net in it and fish food. Also use it ti catch fish. Kind of a useful little thing. It's about 4x6x2 and has a lip that fits over the edge of your fish tank. Also..did you have a net on your list?

I haven't yet but I think I will do one more order in another month. I figure it will take 4-5 weeks to cycle so there won't be fish or plants for a while. Things in my second order will probably include:

Algae Scraper
Fish Net
Hagen Bubble Counter (DIY CO2) ?

Then sometimes while its cycling I want to upgrade my lights so I can have 2Watts per gallon, but I'm not yet sure how that will work. I'm looking generally at ahsupply for that.

When you do end up making your order you probably will want to call them to ask what items they don't have in stock. It took them a week to get my order shipped and only then did I find out that the Nitrites/Nitrates kit wasn't in stock and the order was on the way. It would have been nice if they would have let me know such that I could have chose a different brand or picked one up at the LFS durring that time.

Oh I completely forgot! I need to get some epoxy for some DIY caves. Which should I get:
BigAls Epoxy

Or is it cheaper from the hardware store or walmart?

bump.

Last chance to give me advice. I'm putting in my order tonight!

Thanks to everyone thats helped me. I think my list is looking really good.

I don't understand the differences between the epoxies listed so if someone can recommend which one to get that would be great!!

PS: Like my new avatar? :D :D :D
