I have an xp1 that I recently purchased used. The hoses had been replaced with braided vinyl and the filstar xp1 motor housing had been placed on a filstar 2 body so that it has two media baskets. This filter appeared to work fine until I noticed that it was leaking from where the power cord comes out of the top. Apon further isnpection, I found that a o-ring that fits the media basket housing to the impeller assembly was missing a small piece. I have read that this can cause water to bypass the media basket, but not flood the top casing causing it to leak near the power cord. I read that two things cause the leaking next to the cord. Undue stress on the hoses or them being streched. That or the filter being 55" or more below the tank.
This is the first one of these filters I have owned. From the rampant descriptions out there, have any of you found that a damaged o-ring to the impeller housing can flood the lid? or is that all about my retrofit hosing?
Thanks in advance
