Help with stocking a 540 gallon aquarium?

So I was thinking along the lines of:
2 Bala sharks
15 discus
15 angelfish (altum)
50 bleeding heart tetras
35 Rummynose tetras
30 Panda cories
30 Oto catfish

Suggestions???

i would bump up more bala sharks. they are a social fish, and 2 just isn't enough. i wouldn't use the otto cats with the angles. I wouldn't do discus, but that's just me. the cories are fine, the rest should be ok. If it were me, i would get a bunch of rubber lip pleco's. they stay in the 4" range, and will not look like food to the bigger fish.

I would dump the Bals and get something else.

Pictus cats, ect.

i too would take off the bala's off the list. besides that it looks like a good list. maybe add more rummynose? 35 looks empty in a 549g tank. i wish i had the money and room for a big tank like that. keep us updated on the tank and remember to show pics!

Or one more large school of tetras ---Diamonds??? Flames??

I'm all for a big tank with small fish, but a 540 is a bigt larger than 'big' and seems like it should have something that actually merits the space. I had that space, I would be looking at something large and full of personality like arrowanas and pacus, etc. I don't even know all the 'big fish' options because i've never been able to entertain the idea!

if you're set on having small community fish in there, I would go with something like this:
20 angelfish (altum)
25 peacful, large bodied barbs (ruby, oddessa, etc)
25 diamond tetras or congo tetras
25 panda cories
25 emerald green cories (more active than most)
20 bristle nose plecos
15 SAE

and then I'd go from there based on how that plays out. With so much space, it's kinda hard to think of it all at once!
