Help with stocking a 540 gallon tank?

Incidentally, I am insanely jealous- and Discus logistics aside- I think it sounds like you've picked out some great fish.

Oh, and I love the sight of lots of small fish in a big tank. I like big fish too... need two 500+ gallon tanks- one for lots of small fish and one for bigger fish! ;) Oh and one for some turtles... oh and one for a Paludarium... 4* 500+ gallon tanks that oughta do it.

Not sure what I would stock given the options of such a large tank. I'd probably spend days daydreaming about what to put in my tank... Definately an opportunity to get a nice Pleco or two in a size that big though.

So many beautifull Plecos in the hobby- yet only a few people have the ability to house some of the large ones properly...

I agree many schools of smaller fish would be more pleasing to the eye and much more active...but I can't stray away from the "Big Tank = Big Fish" option myself...my brain just goes that direction

Why do you always have the best Avatars? first it was super Kim vampire...now Osama the riddler? I'm almost in tears here I'm laughing so hard...what's next? Sadam the tin man? Castro as batman? lol you kill me Wycco lol
 
Someone mentioned BN plecs, but I would go with something bigger. Why not go for one of the bigger ones since you'll certainly have the room. Other than that, I can't even wrap my head around how big this tank will be or what to even stock it with.
 
Hmmmm....I see the possibilites for a couple rays here. ;o)

Add to that an arrow and group of clown loaches. Need something to swim in between...oh yes...how can I not refuse the temptations of a nice school of discus'.

And for variety...throw in some angels...a couple DDs would be a good color contrast in the mix.

LOL- thank you... Saddam's already been done...

A few weeks ago- I did have "Teddy Bear Doctor" -Saddam carrying a nuclear waste bag. The avatar changes along with the theme of whatever "mafia" game we're playing at the time on the "General Chat" forum at the time.

I'm not sure what theme is next... but I like the idea of Castro as the subject of my avatar! I may have to use him next! :)

I could see it done both ways... I think its just for those of us that try and house the monsters drool over having a tank that size to fill up!

So in short put in a couple monsters or A HELL OF A LOT small fish for a GIANT school! my $.02
