Hey cheers guys, thought I'd give an update on my progress....
Basically, bit gutted about the substrate that arrived today. It's Limpopo Black Sand, the picture describing it was this:
But in reality, it's really not very dark:

looking good buddy, yeah i have been wanting a 33gal long they are basically the same length as a 55gal but not quite as tall more so a 55gal cut in half.. nice photos..
Well joeotley, I like a lot that substrate. It will definitely look very nice with gray slate rocks.

Very awesome! The black substrate and slate will bring out those labs VERY well! Can't wait for the new pics! Welcome to AC!!! 
Looking good joeotley. Check out your local rock quarry or landscape supply store for slate and rockwork. Save you a lot of money in the long run. The black sand would've been cool but I like the brownish color as well. I'd use darker slate as well to contrast those Labs. Tank looks clean and healthy, congrats.
