highway robbery.....a rant

Switching tags is stealing any way you look at it and is illegal. You can be arrested and go to jail for it. That is simply not worth it. People that do that drive up the cost of things because these places have to make up for thier losses. I can't even believe that would be suggested here.

As for the driftwood, I think that it is a pretty typical price and if you really want it and it will look so very nice in your tank, then by all means go and get it if you think you can afford it.

i posted pics of my tank in the "new guy" thread. I have 3 pieces of wood decoration in there that cost me over 100. Believe it!

I have seen the pics....very nice!

i got a nice piece of malaysian driftwood at petco for $10. it was about 10" x 4" (with a hook of wood that went higher) x 5"

then at my LFS they sell chunks of cool wood in varying sizes ranging from $1.99 for small or thin pieces, to $14.99 for massive chunks that are about 4 feet long and thick, or like 6 feet long and thin. i got a piece there that's totally awesome and large enough to nicely fill the center of my 45g for $10

If you think these prices are high, try a saltwater tank!
These prices are cheap..

I'm more than willing to spend $50-60 on a NICE piece of drift/bog wood. It's a one time purchase and does great for your tank. I like african root.. it may not be as "branchy" as driftwood, but it doesn't leach much, it SINKS, and it will last for a long long time.

I actually put a couple pieces in the 10gal. that I bought at PetSmart, it is two pieces together, forming an arch, then there's a separate piece, smaller, with a hole in top. I thought maybe a little anubias nana "petite" might look nice planted on the smaller piece, and perhaps some java moss on the arch, or some riccia. I am still considering that nice piece of bogwood, if it's still there, but if not, they had plenty to choose from. I hadn't checked Petco, but that's a good idea, there's one of those too, not too far from my house. I know I will be in this hobby for a long time, so I don't mind making a worthy investment. :)
