HOB vs. Canister?

So, I am sure there 'may' be a ton of opinions on this, and perhaps it's been asked before-

Do you prefer HOB or Canister for 55+g tanks and why?

I have always enjoyed having both. But to do it on my 75 means cutting the front of the stand open and installing cabinet doors.
I just question the Emperor 400 and Aquatech 30-60 being able to filter it as well as a single good canister with a smaller bio-wheel HOB in addition to it.
 
I am just saying in general. Just looking for peoples opinions. Everyone here could tell me Canisters are Terrible and HOB is the way to go, and I will still eventually probably put a canister on my new 75.
I just feel they filter more/better.

My tank is a community tank with a large Pleco, Cory's, Zebra Danios, Neon Tetras, etc going in it.
 
I like cansiter filters because one can place the tank closer to the wall than with a HOB filter. Plus there is virtually no bypass on a cansiter.
 
Yeah, I had to shift my new 75 about 5" from the wall so the HOB's would fit. Kinda sucks, cause now it's there forever even if I went full canister. I doubt 900lbs slides easy on pergo, lol.

Forever? You can always drain the tank and move it. ;)
 
I am never even going to move homes again JUST so I don't have to deal with draining a tank and moving fish. Let alone drain it to move it 5"s, lol.

I just hope we never want new Pergo or wood floors. That will be a nightmare, 2 tanks to move......
 
Both are good. Now according to what has been told to me: if you are planning to inject CO2 go canister. But if you like HOB more (I don't know if that's the case) you could have 2 AC 110 power filters and that shall be just fine; you would have good filtration and in case one crashes you have the other to back up. Hope this helps :)
