I used stud 2x4's for the frame, and a 1x4 for the front face frame. A pocket jig template helped me fasten everything together. And really all I did was wrap the whole thing in plywood, put moulding on the edges to clean it up and wham bam it is done. Given there is a little more to it than that, I just don't have any pictures to give a good representation on the inner workings. the doors were made my a friend of mine who is a really good carpenter.
The wood stand I bought at Big Al's was double that price, and, it's held together with staples. :(

Don't get to excited about my skills. I'm a novice, at best, I did have an experienced carpenter watching me the whole time.

But, the reason I did make my own was just the fact that I didn't like the construction of regular "overthecounter" stands. Usually they were make with partical board held together with, as you said, staples.

I'd have ya build me one if I had the cash. It looks great!!

beautiful job, msouth.... are you going to stain it or keep it natural colored? Kudo's on a job very well done ;)

Natural color, it does have a slight dark stain to it. But really, with pine you can't do a whole lot just because it is such a pain to stain.
