Honeymoon pictures from Moorea/Bora Bora - Above water (56K!!)

Wow! That is a slice of paradise!

Thanks for posting the pics! I'll have to ask (like in the underwater post), what camera did you use? Some of those photos are "post card" material! :thm:

WOW! You've got some breathtaking shots, some I think you could enter into a photo contest. Esp that first one! That's where we were originally going to go on our honeymoon, but we decided on Costa Rica instead. Now I want to go again! Maybe for 5 year aniv. (only 4 years & 3 months to wait! LOL)

The above water pictures are just with my normal camera that I use for fish/tank photos here. It's a Kodak EasyShare CX6330. I've been very happy with it.

The underwater cameras were just a cheapie Kodak disposable we picked up from walmart for like 9$.

The pictures from the Helmet Dive...i dont know what kind of camera it was. It looked expensive though (it wasn't disposable)...

Ah you just relaxed me after a hectic commute home, in this oppressive east coast heat...thank you. Those pics are really interesting. The facts as well. Thank you for taking the time to upload and share!

I had one of the scariest experiences of my LIFE...involving something that would never be allowed in the united states:

Beautiful, beautiful place. I'd never want to leave there!

Can you tell us about the plane ride and what happened that was so scary, or would you rather not talk about it? You've piqued my curiousity, that's all.

Thanks for mentioning that besides some of the fish that nothing is poisonous there. If my boyfriend and I ever get married I'd like to honeymoon somewhere tropical, but my BF has a phobia about poisonous creatures. That really lets out a lot of the tropics, so I'm glad to know about this place.

I agree. They are all incredible pictures, but that first one is awesome. Sounds like a real memorable time.

A bit long, sorry.

Yah, I can talk about the plane thing. First, let it be known that this was the first time I had ever flown. Period. All the way from Boston to Tahiti. So, I was already a little freaked out.

Unless you are at an international airport (meaning the ONE on Tahiti) there is no security whatsoever at any of the airports. Your bags do not get checked, no one checks your ID, no one checks your ticket/boarding pass, you do not pass through a metal detector, your bags do not get screened, the airport is open air. At some of the ones we used, think the size of your kitchen - but only the roof, with no walls. Pretty much anyone with anything gets right on the plane.

So, on our connecting flight from Moorea to Bora bora, I notice this completely sketchy guy in the "terminal". He was just acting really suspicious. He had a funny little metal briefcase type thing with him, too. I was thinking "I hope he's not getting on our plane". So naturally, he ends up sitting right behind me in the second row. Midflight, he calls the attendant over and before the attendant can get there, he gets up and walks up to the cabin door. I hear some talking, but I can only see what the attendant is saying because he is facing me.

I hear "So, you just wanna look? No touch? Just look?" and then I can hear the guy go "Ummm....(long pause).....yah." So they let him in!!! They shut the cockpit door and the only flight attendant there was went in too. You could see everyone on the plane's eyes just sort of open wide.

Next thing you know, the plane is pretty much nosediving, and bouncing back and forth. It was really quite bad. Everyone started to gasp like "OMG what's happening up there". The guy still hadn't come out. We're all thinking horrible thoughts. My heart almost exploded. Chris was two seconds away from going up and looking what was happening.

Then it smoothed out. The guy didnt' come out until we landed (at the proper airport;)). Turns out it was just severe turbulence. But being an American, it freaked me the heck out!

So that's my long, it-was-scarier-while-you-were-there-story.

And on another airport note, we had to take a 7 minute flight from tahiti to moorea in a tiny 16 person plane. The airport was no more than a small room, with no walls. There was one luggage guy/security guy who was wearing a white wifebeater shirt, baggy jeans, smoking a cigarette while handling luggage, and he was blaring Eminem's unedited "Arse Like that" song. Interesting experience at 4:30 am in Tahiti! As we were waiting to board, the power went out! Complete darkness! And no one even made an announcement LOL. 20 minutes later we hear "We're now boarding flight 2" and that was that.

Tuo - You can tell him it is really safe (until you get in the water haha). There is virtually no crime and everyone knows each other. On moorea, they have 15 cops for 15,000 people. I didn't see a single one, though. The only big animals on the islands are a few leftover wild boars....and wild mountain goats!!!
