Oh, shoot, I get what you're saying. Sorry about that!
So I have this one glo tetra that I got from a relative currently housed in the 2g that I got him in. I got to reading, and found out that (again, this little guy wasn't my fish, but he ended up in my care after my relative didn't want him) skirt tetras are a schooling fish. I read on several different sources that the bare minimum for these guys was a school of 5 in a 10g. Again, though, pretty much everybody says something different.
Well, after reading fishorama's posts and several other articles on skirt tetra behavior, I got worried that they would end up killing each other if the tank was too small. I absolutely would get a bigger tank if I could, but I don't have the space or the money at the moment. However, I know that something needs to be done about the one fish I have, because it's unhealthy for a schooling fish to be living in solitude, I'd guess.
So now, I have the one 2g in which the only tetra I have now resides, and the 10g I bought in an attempt to set up a bigger, more comfortable home for him. I know that any more than 5 2-inch fish in one 10g is pushing it (heck, that's probably pushing it), so I was wondering if it was at all possible for me to understock the tank, yet still have the fish comfortable enough to not be so skittish, and have others of their kind to interact with. What are your thoughts?
Thanks, and sorry for the confusion!
