HOW DO YOU DRIVE ?(speed racer)?

speed limiter???

Don't have an answer on that question, but you know the speed warning setting? It can be set for anything up to 214mph on an E60 M5.

However, this would be on a legal track setting.... kind of the other side of the balance comparing the relaxation in front of a reef tank.

I'm the very bestest driver there is, I dont drive too fast :D

I have road rage (not too bad) and I don't like people that are going slower than me. :D I am safe though........but, get out of my way! I am one of those that cannot stand it when people drive the speed limit. I have to be going atleast 10 miles over....unless there is a cop around, of course.....then I'm an angel.

The car I drove til a few months ago made annoyed sounds if you asked it to go above 65mph... so I drove the speed limit. The car I now have is happy at 70 or 75 (probably more), but I tend to stay around the speed limit cos I got used to it, and I rarely see the point of going faster (I don't think it actually saves that much time, especially over a short distance, and it's more dangerous to go faster...). I do stay in the right lane unless someone's going slower than I am, and then I move left only to pass, and if there's a clump of traffic behind, I'll wait them out before passing... I figure there's no point in making others annoyed by me being "slow" in the left lanes :P

It bugs me when someone is tailgating me, when I'm at the speed limit, and there's a whole empty lane to the left that they could pass in... If I were going waaaay slow and there was a ton of traffic to the left, it's understandable (if annoying) that someone tailgates, but when there's no other traffic... grr :P Also I don't really like the people who zip around in traffic, speeding up and slowing down and cutting people off, only to get to their destination mere moments ahead of me, who's plodding along at a steady pace...

I'm finding all the 'speed-fiends' in this thread really interesting!!

I used to be one of them - I think I was pretty much cured when I lived in the Aussie Outback and it's open road, as in you can go as fast as your car will let you out of the town limits etc. Or you could in 1998/99 - can't see why they would have changed it but can't guarantee it still applies.

The total irony is that I still ended up being (reasonably) sensible coz smacking into a kangaroo or cattle at high speed makes a REALLY BIG mess - even with bullbars! :headshake2:

When I was backpacking for a while I was on one of those large tour busses that scored a skippy - IT was dodging a roadtrain and banged into US! The damage to the bus was enough to keep me VERY wary when in a 'mere' car!

Course I DID have the odd lil blat (just coz I could!) :hitting:

I'm a speed-demon, definitely.

No-one is driving fast enough for me, what I hate most of is the idiot you get driving a riced up car tailgating on the straights, but come to the corners and where are they!? Great, you can go really fast in a straight line, that's good, if you don't ever need to turn corners but uh, last time I checked, there are a lot of corners. Even in my Mitsu L200 4 Life (big pick-up) I had some reject in a scooby (subaru impreza) tailgating but when I got the corners I was smoking him, hahaaa, you could tell he felt like a reject. Well he was, anyone who can't drive one of those lovely STi import scoob's faster than me in my two ton truck needs to have it taken away and given to someone more deserving.

Awesome trucks by the way - the L200 4Life, RWD in normal drive and you CAN drift them really well, for a truck. Next car - RX7, mmmm rotary.

Ditto Blairo.

Im a speed racer. As fast as I can get away with. Usually on the highway jaunts I ge over 100 easy. Its sooooo much fun in my car.

and that's what you gotta remember.. blame the driver, not the car ;)

There's different types of drivers here. There are some that drive at 20km/h above the limit, some 10 km/h over the limit, some on the limit and some 5 km/h below the limit, and those that just want to get other drivers angry (going 10-20 km/h below the limit for no good reason; A good reason means that the road is slippery/icy, therefore it's advisable to drive 10 km/h slower)...

I try to stay near the limit, so if it's 60 km/h, I sometimes go about 58-65 km/h...

As manual transmission user, I usually drive by granny-shifting (what my brother says), where I shift from first to second gear at around 2500 RPM and 2000 RPM for the rest of the speeds... So roughly shift to 2nd gear at 20 km/h, 3rd at 30 km/h, 4th at 40 km/h and 5th at 60 km/h sometimes 55 km/h...

I would get to 3500 RPM and 4000 RPM, if I get mad at a person... eg: cutting really close, if the car in the front is 20 km/h than the limit, and other stuff that shouldn't be done on the road... I'm trying to control my anger now, to be a better driver :D
