上部 Filter in English? That's read Joubu. Which means top part filter. Its the kind that sits across the entire top of the tank and one end sucks up water and then the water flows over a bed of filter media and then returns to the tank from the opposite end. 'sorry' started this hobby in Japan and some of the jargon I only know in nipponese...

here its a eclipse filter because thats who make them. other then that i really dont know if there is a name for hood filters.

Has a bio wheel and a filter box that doesn't work well. Most the water flows over the blue floss pad instead of thru it and the area below that is for carbon or bio media.

There have also been more than a few reported fires in the Eclipse III models from the light area.
