Oh, ok I see where I was confused. Yeah that is a jewel but they are from africa

as far as I know all Hemichromis species are african in origin.

I have stated twice that they are African Riverine and Madagascar cichlids.

there are also south american jewels! i have owned and do own a south american jewel.

the fish in the 33g hex thread you linked to above ? that's a hemichromis...I think hemichromis guttatus (Ikeep one myself)http://www.cichlidforum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1348

...not a 'south american jewel'...its a west african riverine cichlid...
