How many angles to get?

What are the rest of the dimensions of the tank. How deep (from front to back) and how wide?

I would say 4 may be pushing it. I have a well planted regular 55 gallon (see my avatar) that has 4 in it and it's getting a little cramped. I need to trim back some plants to give them room to swim...

it depends on the footprint of the tank. generaly tall tanks work well for angels.
but they do need some swimming room.

in all likely hood you will not be able to determine the sex of angels until they pair up and spawn.

the only real conclusive way to determine the sex is by comparing their ovipositors. the males is thin and pointy the females is short, thicker and more blunt.

generally adult angels may see the guppies as food. they are cpable os consuming fish arouns 2" long and guppies are not extremely fast. couple that with the 'ambush' predator the angle is..could be problematic for the guppies.

if you get 4 juveniles you may wind up with a pair in which case you may need to find a new home for the other angels.

I can't find my measuring tape, I'm blaming the kids, but if I remember the dimensions are 34" sides, 48" front, 24" tall. Here's a picture:

I can always buy just 2, but for some reason (probably because I don't know a thing about angle fish and can't find anything good online) I thought they liked to be in groups of 3 or more.

I was wondering how many angle fish I should pick up tomorrow? I have a 55 gallon corner tank that is tall, 24". In the tank I have 1 pleco, 3 platys, 3 guppies and a few snails. I have lots of plants that go from the bottom to the top on the sides and in the back corner, so the front area is free space. I was thinking 4, 3 females and a male? But I know very little about angles and I can't find a good site online. If anyone can point me to a good angle fish site that would be great also.
There's no way you can determine their sexes unless they spawn. Your tank appears too small for four angels to me. One could probably fit but there is not much space in it, is there?

I doubt your tank is 48"x34"x24", unless it's a 170g ;)

You could get a trio or five, but if they pair off, have a place for them or the others to go to. Even with two males or two females, that corner tank has limited swimming space.

Tough call there on 2, you are assuming they will all live and prosper. From what I have seen it is hard to reintroduce angels later in the stage, they get aggressive with the new mates(Angels).
Tough to tell, you might start with 3 or 4 quarter size and see what happens. I would also get them all the same size and maybe from the same place at the same time.
Good luck
