Thank you for the apology. I too apologize for seeming to jump on you unfairly. I do agree that one needs to be careful in giving advice to newbies for the reasons you have stated, as I too have taken some issue
with others encouraging newcomers to take steps they may not have the knowledge & experience to deal with, and if I was guilty of that, then I slap myself on the wrist.
I do find it irksome however, to hear advice from posters that appears to err overly- heavy on the side of caution, in the expectation that readers will take them as being wise experts, even though they do not have the benefit of the actual experience and knowledge of having undergone similar circumstances. I hasten to add that I'm not suggesting you were in that category, but it may have appeared that way to me in the heat of the moment, and I was upset by your open criticism of my comments.
Having said all of that, I nonetheless still feel that a dozen fish of that size in that tank is neither a heavy bio-load, nor overstocking, under the right conditions, and based on me & imho. My sense is that keeping say 15- 18 fish of the black skirt size in that tank would constitute being overstocked, and that 'severely overstocked' and subject to a lot of problems, would be in the range of 2 dozen or more. But as was pointed out, we all have are own opinions, don't we, based hopefully, solely on our own actual experiences.
'Nuff said - I will say no more.
