How many goldfish in my new Fluval Spec III?

Apparently when you request your order be held at the post office upon arrival, the usps thinks that means put the fish and shrimp on a usps delivery truck when you are at work, attempt to deliver it to your house when you aren't home, leave a card in your mail box that the package can be picked up tomorrow at the post office, and since it is on a delivery truck you can't pick it up at the post office today like what was supposed to happen. Hopefully everything isn't dead tomorrow.

Package smelled like dead fish when I picked up the package today from the post office. Sure enough, all of the rasboras were dead. All of the shrimp were alive and the banana plant was alive. Definitely won't ever order from Bob's Tropical Plants again.

I have 7 brand new glass 2.5 inch diameter petri dishes. They would work great for a shrimp food dish. You could use the petri dish and lid as two food dished (the lid is slightly larger than 2.5 inch diameter). If you have something to trade for them (like a plant), let me know.

I wouldnt say thats Bob's fault. It was probably because the fish were held at the post office overnight.

I find it interesting that I have ordered a total of 9 fish online (5 endlers and 4 rasboras) and 1 has arrived alive. Yes, the package was held overnight at the post office and I could do nothing about it. I was under the impression that since I requested the package be held at the post office when I ordered that it would indeed be held at the post office when it arrived in town. Instead, it was out in a delivery truck being delivered when I was at work and when I attempted to get the package before the post office closed the package was still on the delivery truck. Apparently the ball was dropped by either the post office not knowing it was supposed to be held or the post office being inept. It is possible the fish died because they were at the post office overnight, but that doesn't discount the possibility the fish would have still been dead when the post office tried to deliver the package to my house the previous day. We will never know. All we know is I have one endler and 4 rili shrimp in my fluval spec III and a really fast moving snail with a pointed shell that must have hitched a ride on a piece of plant shipped with the shrimp. I spent a total of $37 to have 4 rasboras, 4 rili shrimp, and a banana plant sent to me and all I have to show for it is 4 shrimp and a banana plant. I have never had any trouble with invertebrates being shipped (snails and shrimp), but fish are another story. I also don't know if the fish were shipped in breather bags, but if they were not then that is irresponsible.

Understandably frustrating, but I wouldn't blame Bob for the deaths. The USPS can be frustrating to deal with at times but these things happen and is a risk you take especially when attempting to redirect a package.

Failure by the post office to do as instructed as nothing to do with the merchant you ordered from.

This is the first time I have had shrimp and they move around more than I thought they would. I thought they would crawl around on the bottom of the tank like a crayfish, but they dart and glide around the tank clinging to everything. They act like a dragonfly nymph.

Ordering live goods online is always a risk and the fact that they sat overnight at the post office doesn't necessarily place the blame on the seller (especially since I've never heard of Mg shipping irresponsibly). Sure, they COULD have been DOA but that's not a very strong leg to stand on...
