I know it's a silly question but i can't figure out why with all the fish i have (look below at my tanks) that they are almost never schooling except for the rummynose tetras and they only do it like half the time
Usually six is the minimum number for a school of schooling fish but keep in mind the bigger the school the more likely they are to school. That is the way you wouls see in the wild.
well, first of all, your tanks are very overstocked, especially the 50 gallon. Perhaps its a sign of all teh stress of not having enough swimming room. In optimal conditions, your neons should be schooling nicely. You should really think about donating back a bunch of your fish. It seems like you almost have twice what you should have. What are your tank levels? What are you using for filtration?
i'm not sure about the filter, it came with the tank
what do you see as a problem?
i was thinking about giving the three lemons back just because they kinda clash with my other fish but what would you recomend?
The kuhlis prefer cooler temps than your other fish. In the wild neons are considered snacks for angelfish. If it were my tank i`d lessen the amount of fish by at least 1|3. It`s much too crowded in there.
Usually fish schoal when they`re frightened.
but see MaryPa that's the problem they are not schooling and i know that the angelfish likes to chrunch neons but for some reason mine does not
also the about the kullis i know a worker at my lfs and he came over with me to see if my tank was okay for loaches and some more tetras (cause i had already some fish) and he said as long as my temp was around 78 i was okay
Is that incorrect?
another thing to remember is that the more comfortable the fish are with their surroundings, the less tightly they will school together. i have 8 rummynoses in a 75g and they school very loosely, sometimes not at all, unless it's feeding time, when they become voracious monsters, ripping apart the bloodworms as if they were starved pirahnas.
