You guys inspired me to share the pain of my expense. (Heh, no pain, always wanted to be a marine biologist so... )

I think I've done rather well for myself, my LFS has this tendency to do some rather interesting pricing for me. (I can understand why since all but $60 of this stuff was purchased through the one LFS.)

I put together a 'beginner setup based around a juwel 110 litre setup (30 gals, and ended up sending 8600 Norwegian kroner (about 1100 dollars I tihnk). Biggest costs were
tank kit - 1600 NOK
live rock - 2000 NOK

retrofit T 5 lights 105 English pounds
prizm skimmer - 90 english pounds (and yes it works!)

So I could have done a real basic setup for maybe 800 dollars. But I couldn't have gone any lower.
