I got my first tank in 1999 or 2000 or something. The whole family (except my sister) worked together to take care of the tank. Last year the last fish in there (a black skirt tetra) died and we had that since 2003 or 2004.
How old were you when you first (responsibly) kept your first fish?

i am 27 now, have been keeping fish for about 15 years, and figure that i will keep them responsibly by the time that i am 30
Umm not sure I'm responsible yet........ responsibility assumes I've matured, but I first kept fish health for long periods of time when I was 26

I started keeping fish around 9-10 y/o, my dad help me breed bettas =D but once I moved to America, I stopped, I started again when I was 15, Im 16 now =DD
I had my first SW at 8 y.o., so I almost had no choice but to be responsible. The first year was terrible, but 15 years later, I am getting the hang of things--at least I hope so.
Started out with a bunch of goldfish squeezed in a 10 gallon when I was maybe 5 years old. After that had some random goldies won at the fair, a betta bowl...the usual wrong things to do. I have no idea why but for my 13th birthday, I think it was, I wanted to keep fish seriously. Got my 30 gallon then and 5 years later here I am!
