I was 29. My friend had no one else to give her fish to when she moved, so I ended up with them. Two gouramis and two goldfish in a 10 gallon tank. Soon enough, they got sick, and that's how I discovered this site and learned how to not kill fish
My family had a fish tank when I was a kid. It had the usual mix of incompatible fish in there (I'm pretty sure, at the least, there was a goldfish and some neon tetras). It was probably between 10 and 15 gallons. I remember once a month my mom would catch all the fish and put them in a bowl, empty out the tank completely, and take it into the bathroom to thoroughly scrub everything. Looking back, I now know that the tank must have always been re-cycling. No wonder the fish died so often.
And, I think I had a goldfish bowl when I was a teenager, because someone gave me the fish as a gift. Another bad memory :headshake2:
