Odd. I've yet to hear of someones canister actually being blown out by a Co2 bubble. If that's happened to you turbo it would be a first...
How to diffuse CO2 in a planted tank?

don't know why but i was using one when i first set up my pressurized system (broke my brand new ceramic diffuser) and after a while it gave out bigger and bigger bubbles. don't know why replaced it but the other one did it two. so i went to directly into the canister filter but bubbles would get caught in the filter. finally i did a reactor and that seams to work the best.
Yee i have yet to get handy to build a reactor of my own.. how much does the supplies cost?
was about $20 when i built mine the only problem i had was finding the proper barb fitting for it (5/8 is a weird size apparently). instead i just heated the tubing up and forced it on the fitting i found, now it's not coming off easily.

I've tried several glass diffusers for DIY co2 and none of them worked well at all. the yeast simply doesn't generate enough pressure to push through the ceramic disc reliably. I recently started using pressurized co2 and the same glass diffuser works great.
For DIY, I think the powerhead with a venturi is the way to go. A reactor would be good too. With the low amounts of co2 generated by the yeast, the reactor would probably make the most of it.

If you do a bit of research on Planted Tanks forum, many have commented about CO2 corroding their impellers when diffused through a filter. A bubble ladder or a bell diffuser are the best IMO. I can't say that one is better than the other, but I do enjoy watching the bubble get smaller as it makes its way up the ladder.
The inline co2 diffuser worked for me, however it's quite pricey if you want to buy it. You will need a filter with 13mm or 17mm outtake tubing, you have to make a cut on the middle of the outtake, and all you have to do is insert the cutted ends to the sides of diffuser and the co2 tubing, pretty simple..but you have to be careful, it's glass, very fragile. The thing I like about it is that it's very quiet and efficient at creating co2 mist, plus good diffusion.
