How to safely run a sand bottom tank

Yes they did, since I've gotten sand their colors are very vibrant and thy have been digging a lot. Also they are a lot less shy, when I feed them they will eat from my hand. I got the fish in september, I was an AMATEUR back then, I had no clue about then except they were aggressive.

This forum is often used to help other fish enthusiasts. If you ask for help, people are going to give constructive criticism. You have to learn how to swallow your pride and admit when you don't know something and be glad people took the time to help. Just my 2 cents.

Technically speaking a 20 x 12 is still a bit small. But it also depends on what you have. Macrognathus circumcinctus and you are almost in the right ballpark. Macrognathus pancalus and you are below the ideal by about half-a-foot. "Peacock Eel" should refer to Macrognathus siamensis though, at which point ideally the tank should be twice as big.

If it is a true Peacock Eel then you may want to consider at least a 40 breeder in the future.
 
You're right but I didn't ask for help, I gave an small bit of advice most people don't agree with me, there is no right answer with fish, I am trying something not many people have done and I will inform you how my fish are doing.

there is a right answer wih fish. its called research. i aim to keep all of my animals in the best environement i can bc did they ask to be cared by us??? no so you should also aim to keep them in atleast there minimum. itd be like sticking you in a closet. of course youd live and be fine but would you be happy?

There are many right answers for every fish question and 10 times as many wrong answers for the the vary same question.

So in your 8 months of fishing keeping you are no longer an amateur but a self proclaimed expert out right dismissing everyone elses recommendations. If you are an expert after 8 months, what does that make me with over 30 yrs of successful fish keeping and breeding??
 
Calm down. And realize that you are talking to a kid. A kid who is not necessarily going to respond to a hostile tone telling him he is doing everything wrong.


It isn't even that big a problem. Assuming this isn't a mislabeled Tire Track, he isn't horribly off. The tank should ideally be bigger, but no need to get so confrontational about it. All you are going to do with this approach is push him onto the defensive and make him dig in on his position.
