I have mbuna cichlids, the reason I got sand for the pH. My cichlids LOVE it, they dig everyday, and my peacock eel that I got this week likes it too.

it doesnt matter. it will get too large to turn around or it will be stunted. you should really research before you buy.

think he ment the BB colony, yes turning off the filter for 2 days would send your tank into a mini cycle. but then again you also have BB colony in your gravel/sand and decorations/plants. so the colony isnt just in the filter... but you could still start a mini cycle if you shut the filter off for 2 days, but you could shut it off for 8 to 12 hours tell the sand settles..
