I have africans too. And a syno cat and a Pictis. Also a L-200. I'm wondering if the sand bottom would be a good idea

um you should rethink your stocking. peacock eels need around a 75 gallon tank.I have mbuna cichlids, the reason I got sand for the pH. My cichlids LOVE it, they dig everyday, and my peacock eel that I got this week likes it too.

think he ment the BB colony, yes turning off the filter for 2 days would send your tank into a mini cycle. but then again you also have BB colony in your gravel/sand and decorations/plants. so the colony isnt just in the filter... but you could still start a mini cycle if you shut the filter off for 2 days, but you could shut it off for 8 to 12 hours tell the sand settles..Ibto? What does that mean, when I turned off my filter I had an air pump running.
