How to stock a 75 gallon tank and it be 'active'

Cory are catfish? xD I didn't even know that. Well..if I stock it with all little fish mostly then I won't have my Con in it. Infact I found a pretty bad leak in my tank so he has to go to a new home anyway, so I will be starting anew.

So that leaves me with:
Glo-light Tetra or some form of Tetra
Zebra Danio or Gaint
Panda Cory
Tiger Barb
Dwarf Gourami
Discus (for some center pieces)
Guppies
Mollies

would all these fish fit together? If so any suggestions on how many of each I could have? This is just a rough list of the fish I like so feel free to add or remove something that won't fit in the tank or will limit me.

Discus and activity dont often mix well at first. They aren't the fastest feeders and tend to get outcompeted. Not to mention they prefer higher temps than most, if not all, of those fish would feel comfortable at.

I really dont want to sound mean or anything but you should really sit down at the computer and do some quality research on the species that you would like to keep. Get a good game plan together before you post up here. I have answered in several of your threads involving stocking of your tanks. If you are new to the fish world, it can be overwhelming to get a million answers from us that are more experienced. I would go to your LFS and write down the species that you find interesting and then go home and look at species profiles so you are a little more informed than just taking someones word for it. Just a week ago, you were looking to stock the 75 with convicts and now you have completely changed. Find something that you want and then post here to finalize your decision and get extra thoughts.

ok then discus can be taken off, I just had a thought about the Swordtails? I should probably just look them up but I'll ask anyway xD

^^ its fine, I know I do that sometimes, just back and forth between things, I really liked the Convicts I'm just use to the aggression that they show. Also, when I ask questions here, I'm mostly just looking for input or extra thoughts like you said, I already have several tabs open on different kinds of tetra and almost all of the fish on my little list. Lol I know it looks like I'm just asking for answers but I usually pick several ways to do something and then research them to death before I pick one.

I'm sorry if that didn't make any sense and if I worried you, I like to ask a lot of questions that my lfs around here just don't know the answer to. Like how active are the cory or match making for the community tanks. I had one lfs tell me that it was perfectly fine to put just about any in with my Convict.

I've got diamond tetras, and they are constantly going back and forth across the tank. They have really graceful fins, especially the males. They sparkle with green and purple when the light hits them. Personally, I'd get at least 15, but you could do fine with 9. They are more of a loose school. For a really active tank, I'd get 20. I started out with 19, and they were awesome to see sweeping across my 75, but my breeding kribs killed 10 of them. I would definitely not keep them with any breeding cichlid, but mine are doing fine with just female kribs (also have 5 honey gouramis, L387 plecs, 1 GBR, 4 lemon tetras soon to get 3-5 more once in LFS again, a few guppies/endlers, an an angel).

I'm not sure how they would do with a convict. I've never kept convicts, but I'd think that having just one would make it more likely to be able to keep tankmates.

Ok I didn't understand the situation fully either. My bad:wall:

If you are going to do a very active setup, I would steer you away from keeping con's in the tank. They are very aggressive and would not do so well with the other smaller fish in the tank.

If you want to keep the con's in the tank, you are going to have to go with a smaller community of larger fish and just stock one male in there to keep the aggression down.

Hehehe its fine, I'm sorry if I sounded like I was just switching back and forth between fish, I should have explained myself.

Ya, I was thinking about whether or not to put a con in there but its looking like it would just be easier to leave him out of the equation for now. Who knows, maybe my christmas present will be another fish tank. :D
