Where the ducks walk on the fish, PA
My husband is going to kill me! Here is my story!

(BACKGROUND)
My daughter (7 years old) inherited a blue P Aleni (spelling) crayfish (don't know a thing about them except they live in water) from a friend last night. The crayfish mind you, not the stuff to go with it. So last night I put the 3 1/2" little guy in a rectangle tupperware container with an air stone, put the lid on and this morning I did a 50% water change (not sure if they need it but what the hay).

So this morning I drive 25 miles to the nearest Walmart for a 10 gallon tank for him or her to live in. All I need is the tank as I have, gravel, an extra Whisper hob for a 55 gal tank (I know overkill, but you use what you have), and the airstone, aerator, and a heater (although I don't know if they need one). At any rate, they don't have any 10 gallon. I was not going to get another larger tank for this little guy as I don't think it can live with anything else. They had 5 gallon hex's, so that is what I got (it come with everything you need).

Well after picking up the tank I remembered I needed some Hikari Sinking Wafers for the cory cats....of course Wallyworld didn't have those either. I had to go to my LFS (which I am not crazy about) which was another 10 miles or so. I go in and find my wafers and go up to the counter and they had just gotten their shipment of fish in. The guy at the counter was just getting ready to dump a male betta into his little itty bitty cup and I could not help myself! I couldn't leave him to live a life stuck in a cup.

This guy is in the 5 gal hex that I bought and I have to go back to Walmart tomorrow for a tank for the crayfish.

I don't know much about bettas, which kind he is, what I can put in a 5 gal hex with him, etc. I did buy some Hikari betta gold for him. I will post on the invert forum about the cray but if you know about them too, by all means let me know.

Lucky daughter. She gets a crayfish and a beta!!! I'm sure she is happy

the bubbles aggetate the bettas alot as they dont like a lot of water movement, you may want to consider turning the bubbles off until he acclimates atleast. keep filtering it though. Get them betta bites, they like those, thats what i feed my betta.

Very nice, he looks great! :)

(By the way, I'd be looking for a 15 gallon for that cray, they get pretty big)

The bubbles are just on the glass from where I put the water in. The only agitation is from the filter. I will be doing wc until the params are in check, but I had to get him out of his bag of water. He seems to like all the room!
