one of the problems out there is that it is hard to get good help for the wages that most LFS's offer.
even as assistant manager in the store where I worked, I still make almost 3 times my hourly rate that I was getting there doing what I do now in my feild (wastewater treatment).
I am not making excuses, I am just saying that part of the reasons that there exists this problem with LFS employees is that the wages are not that great.
trust me I know
I worked at a LFS for 8 years while going through school and after while looking for a job in my intented feild.
finding good help can be tough at lower pay rates.
and the LFS's wont pay really good rates that they need to get lots of really knowledable and experienced people in there.
another forum said it best:
there are two types of fish store employees:
those who will work for 7 dollars an hour and don't care
and
those who ill work for 7 dollars an hour and are really good but won't be there long.
this is part of the problem.
ps this is not in any way meant to put down anyone that works at a LFS. I worked at one too for a long time so I am part of that group.
