I can't contain my excitement!!!

Every body is saying oh my god and OMG but my first response when I saw him was "HOLY ****" thats a cool looking fish. I've never been into bettas but thats one hell of a fish.
Call him "sid" If you need background, Sid Vicious was the front man of the Sex Pistols and that is a punk rock fish if I've ever seen one.

Yeah... he wasn't cheap, to be sure!! ^__^;;

He didn't arrive in this Monday's shipment to the transhipper!! :sad:

She said he should come in with the next lot on May 4th. I figure that gives me some time to get the plants I ordered in settled and maybe have the tetras in. I haven't decided on what bottom-cleaners I want.

2 oto cats... heard they are great small-space algae eaters and great for plants.

3-4 shrimp... also good algae-eaters, but concerned about bettas reaction to them.

1 snail... concerned betta might pick at it. Also not sure if they eat live plant leaves or just detrius and algae growth.

3 pygmy cories... the last option because I need algae eaters for my slow-growing anubias plants (I have two different varieties) and cories, much as I love 'em, aren't much for the stuff. ^_^;;

otos are actually terrible small space algae eaters, the reason is they need lots of algae that a small space cant give. They like to be in groups which a small tank cant give, and they love fast currents (natural habitat) which bettas hate. Please dont get one, i dont see a need for it. Get some algae eating snails or shrimp.

what size tank is he putting them in? I have ottos in all my tanks, Smallest being 20g. They are the best algae eaters I've ever had. I have true SAE's and they don't compare. I waited until I had an algae problem to get the ottos but I had this rock and it was solid green. I watched the ottos clean it in front of my eyes.

Umm, no. Johnny Rotten was front man. Sid played crap guitar, and sneered REALLY well. An inspiration to all who really want to make a total spectacular mess of their lives and deaths.... and isn't that all of us?

SHE is putting them in a 5 gallon... ^.^;; And I've come to the conclusion that otos aren't the way to go. Thank you for taking the time to PM me and give me some good straight information based on your own experiences, Musho.

Anywho, It has been decided!!

*** His name will be Damien!! ***

As for the whole 3-weeks thing... part of that is my fault. I was a week late in payment to begin with. Between my lack of internet access (only at work right now), issues with my bank, and my friend splitting their foot open on my deadline night and having to be rushed to the ER, I thought for certain I'd lose my betta!!!!

But the seller was VERY forgiving of me and held the fish until I was able to get my Paypal working properly (I had problems with setting up Direct Deposit on this account as well. It's been a nightmare!) And I used my injured friend's laptop to send the payment again while his foot was being irrigated and sutured.

Anywho, so I get him paid for on the 18th of April. He was set to ship on the 22nd. But he didn't end up in that shipment. I wasn't the only one with this complaint, but it turned out the seller was hospitolized for 3 days, hence the delay. He apologized profusely and assured me my betta will be sent in the next shipment.

This is fine with me. He was patient with me, so I can be patient with him. Besides, this gives me time to get the plants arranged just right before he comes home. ^___^

So no. Normally it wouldn't take this long.

...that is a punk rock fish if I've ever seen one.

*laughs* That's what I thought, too. I'm totally gonna play some heavy rock when he flares for the cameras. Aweshum. :D

And I've still not seen another betta on aquabid quite like him. He's something else!! If I can find some suitably colored females, I'm totally going to create a strain of CTs based on his colors.

Okay... got my algae-control!!

I found this fantastic breeder for brigs apple snails. I've never seen such rich and vivid color on an aquatic snail! She feeds them all kinds of special stuff and it shows when you see how pearlescent and colorful their shells are.

Turns out I'm just a 45-minute drive from her, so she's shipping me two snails tomorrow. One purple and one blue. I'd have gotten a jade one as well if I had the space for one! They are so pretty...

yay, hopefully there wont be problems with the betta and the snail.
